Asumare Peruvian is a modest, no-frills spot tucked into San Fernando that offers a genuine taste of Peruvian home cooking. This is a place where locals come to satisfy cravings for classic dishes like Lomo Saltado, Arroz con Mariscos, and Bistek a Lo Pobre, all served in generous portions without any fuss. The restaurant’s atmosphere leans toward casual and comfortable—think small dining area, straightforward decor, and a focus on the food rather than the ambiance.

Many visitors lean toward takeout, but there’s a simple charm in dining in, especially for those who appreciate attentive service and a quick pace. The kitchen respects Peruvian flavor traditions with dishes like Yucca Frita paired with their creamy Huancaina sauce or seafood staples such as Pescado Sudado and Chaufa De Mariscos. The offering of bread with butter upon arrival adds a quiet, welcoming touch that feels like the start of a home-cooked meal.

Asumare shines for those who already enjoy Peruvian cuisine or anyone curious about its diverse flavors presented through both meat and seafood options. It’s well-suited for lunch or an early dinner when you want a solid, authentic meal without the pretense. The dining room is cozy rather than bustling, making it easy to focus on the layers of flavor from ingredients like red wine vinegar, cilantro, and soy sauce that characterize many of the dishes.

While the menu prices sometimes vary, the value here is clear—plates come well-seasoned and portioned for comfort, matching what locals in the Valley appreciate in a reliable neighborhood eatery. If you’re seeking Peruvian food that leans more toward everyday enjoyment than elaborate presentation, Asumare in San Fernando fits the bill.

The food was great! Small little restaurant but the food was pretty good. They served us bread with butter and then we had Jalea mixta and Paella Peruvian style.

Excellent service, waitress is very attentive and quick Food is authentic. As a suggestion, the menu should be updated on the prices for the clients to see on the maps

Fersure a hidden gem not just in San Fernando but in the San Fernando Valley! My recommendation would probably be if you're planning to eat in this place is to call ahead of time to make a reservation because it's a small place and seating is very limited but I'm telling you it's worth it. Big portion, less expensive than most places and quality of food is A1! I wish I got their ceviche but that will be for next time, fersure lol The dish I got is Lomo Saltado with shrimp (Sautéed ribeye and fries)
